The Gamblers
My first painting in my gambler series is a study of card players photographed while they were actually playing cards. I wanted to capture the expressions of real winning and loosing. Can you find who is winning or loosing?
Forgotten Man
This painting was completed after a long intense drawing session working with a live model. After spending many hours drawing image after image this particular pose got my attention. It was done very quickly as I painted my impression of a forgotten man.
Rounders
I painted a series of gamblers. During my research I went to many gambling facilities and met some of the same players who came often (every day). A rounder is a person who frequents bars and is often drunk.
Parallel Parking
I discovered this boat that looks like the boat I owned. My object of this painting was to capture the beautiful shadow on the boat in bright sun light.
Memorial Sky
A piece of art should always be about ideas. I never try to copy my subject, I always try to express my ideas about what I see and feel.
Garden View
I live near Port Gamble. One day the sky was filled with smoke from neighboring fires. The impossible sky filtered the light with a Martian glow. I discovered I like painting the accidental show.
