This drawing was completed while in my studio from a live model. A group of artist met weekly, hired models and spent many hours developing our skills with life drawing.
While creating my sunflower series I felt inspired to capture the many shapes and the form of the sunflower into stone. I worked on this piece for almost a year and I fell in love with this image because of the contrast between the soft natural flower and the hard stone. The possibilities of creating

I photographed this sunflower while I was lying on the ground and I saw the amazing colors come together as the deep blue sky framed a sun lit flower. I knew it was a successful piece even before I started the painting.

I painted this tree from my house. It stood as a lone silhouette against the darkening sky at twilight. I was thrilled by the color and form.
Early one morning I was crossing the Manette Bridge near Bremerton and it was very foggy. As I looked toward the Bremerton boat ramp I saw this picture. I treasure the moments when I accidentally discover new material for my work.
